One child has been taken to hospital and police have closed part of Main Street after a vehicle struck a pedestrian in Brampton.

The crash happened shortly before 2:30 p.m. in the area of Main Street and English Street in Brampton, north of Vodden Street East.

Police say a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle and taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and a spokesperson for Peel Paramedics confirmed the victim is a child.

Paramedics said the child was in stable condition, but a spokesperson was unable to comment on the child’s age or gender.

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and police have closed off the northbound lanes of Main Street at English Street. Drivers should avoid the area if at all possible or plan alternate routes.
