Two men face charges in a violent, gunpoint home invasion involving a young child in Mississauga.

A small child and an employee were at a home near Lakeshore Road and Lorne Park Road in the early afternoon on Nov. 18 when two men knocked at the door, Peel Regional Police said.

A police spokesperson told INsauga.com the child is under one year old. The employee did various jobs in the home, police said.

Police declined to provide further information on the victims.

Police said the two men posed as local service employees and the person working at the home answered the door.

After a short interaction, the men, armed with firearms, forced their way into the home and demanded valuables, police said.

The child and employee were bound and confined while the men took items from the home until the robbery was interrupted by a neighbour, police said.

Police added the two men fled in a vehicle driven by a third person.

The child sustained minor physical injuries as a result of the robbery.

Police said they arrested two men and seized offence-related property, stolen property and narcotics on Nov. 21, three days after the robbery.

Zain-Alaben Al-Khaleby, 29, of Toronto, is charged with robbery with a firearm, wearing a disguise with intent, two counts of possession of opioids, and three counts of possession of a firearm contrary to an order.

Police said Al-Khaleby was an inmate on statutory release living in a federal parole facility in Toronto, serving the remainder of his four-year sentence following convictions for firearms and robbery-related charges.  He was also bound by three separate weapons prohibition orders with conditions not to possess any weapons.

El Farough Salih, 27, of Mississauga, is charged with robbery with a firearm, three counts of failing to comply with a release order, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, and three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

At the time of his arrest, Salih was bound by a release order in relation to several drug and firearms-related charges, police said. Part of his release conditions required GPS monitoring of Salih.

“Once again, our investigators have arrested two offenders for their alleged involvement in violent crime,” said Peel police Deputy Chief Nick Milinovich. “Both accused were on judicial interim releases for robbery and firearm offences, showing a complete disregard for their court-appointed conditions or our community.  This is more evidence from our team that this will not be tolerated in Peel.”

This investigation remains ongoing, and police anticipate more charges could be laid. There is no information on the third suspect.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact investigators with the Central Robbery Bureau at 905-453-2121 ext. 3410.
