A child was airlifted to hospital after an animal attack in an Ontario town.

The child suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the unprovoked attack in Bancroft on Tuesday (March 26) afternoon, OPP said.

The “aggressive canine-type animal” is described as black and grey, similar in appearance to a German Shepard or Husky dog, police said.

The OPP asks members of the public to use caution in the area of Bradshaw Road in Bancroft and report any sightings to police.

This incident comes after a child suffered life-altering injuries in an attack from an off-leash dog in a Toronto waterfront playground on Saturday (March 23).

The woman caring for the dog fled in this case.

On Monday, Toronto Police announced a 38-year-old woman was arrested and charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm, failing to prevent a dog from biting or attacking and allowing a dog to run at large, along with other charges.
