Chicken, bacon, and salad recalled due to possible contamination in Mississauga and Brampton

Health Canada reports that multiple products have been recalled from stores in Ontario this week (September 6 to 12) due to potential health and safety risks, including stores in Mississauga and Brampton.

Residents are advised to check if they have these products at home and avoid using or consuming them out of caution.

The following products are affected:


European Butcher brand Bacon “Chuncks” and Smoked Side Bacon Slices

Risk: Possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick with symptoms such as vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.

What you should do: Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased. If you think you became sick from consuming a recalled product, call your doctor.


Eat Smart brand Chopped Salad Kits

Risk: Possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick with symptoms such as vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.

What you should do: Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased. If you think you became sick from consuming a recalled product, call your doctor.


Frozen All White Meat Fully Cooked Diced Chicken

Risk: Possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick with symptoms such as vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.

What you should do: Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased. If you think you became sick from consuming a recalled product, call your doctor.

Risk: The recalled dresser can tip-over if not securely anchored to the wall, posing a tip-over and entrapment hazard that can result in serious injury or death to children.

What you should do: Stop using the recalled dresser that is not securely anchored to the wall, and contact the company to obtain a replacement anchoring repair kit.


Ballz QR Skewers

Risk: The recalled Ballz QR Skewers can shear when initially installed or during use causing instability of the trailer and the towing bicycle, posing a fall hazard for the bicycle rider.

What you should do: Stop using the Ballz QR Skewers and submit the Replacement Request Form to receive instructions on how to dispose of the skewer and how to receive a free replacement skewer.


Rattlesnake Egg – Singing magnets

Risk: The magnets do not meet the magnetic force requirements of the Toys Regulations and pose an ingestion hazard. The results of swallowing small powerful magnets can be very serious and life-threatening.

What you should do: Take the recalled toy magnet set away from children and return to the place of purchase for a full refund.


Great Pretenders Pink Butterfly Dress with Wings and Wand

Risk: The costume does not meet the flammability requirements under the Toys Regulations. If exposed to ignition sources such as stove elements, candles, matches or lighters, the costumes can catch fire, posing a risk to children.

What you should do: Take the recalled costume away from children and return it to the place of purchase for a refund or store credit.


Peloton Tread Treadmills

Risk: The screws attaching the touchscreen console to the treadmill can come loose, causing it to detach and fall, posing a risk of injury to consumers. As of August 30, 2021, the company has received 118 incident reports in Canada, which includes 6 reports of minor injuries.

What you should do: Stop using the recalled treadmills and contact Peloton to either schedule a repair or request a full refund. Peloton will continue to offer full refunds until November 6, 2022.
