With production of the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD now underway at the Oshawa and Flint, Michigan plants, sources within General Motors have stated the high-performance off-road ZR2 version will only be built at the Flint plant.

According to GM Authority, the reasoning given by the company for production of the ZR2 being limited to the Michigan plant is to “reduce build complexity and improve manufacturing efficiency.”

The Silverado ZR2 features 33-inch off-road MT tires, ground clearance of just over 28 centimetres and MultiMatic DSSV dampers, which increase suspension travel front and rear.

The truck will sport a naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The uprated 6.6L V8 turbodiesel, rated at 470 hp, is also available.

The ZR2 will be produced in very low numbers.
