An Ontario city says cherry blossom season has arrived — but visitors will have to act quickly.
Burlington officials and visitors report that trees are now in full bloom at two popular locations, offering a brief window to catch the blossoms at their peak.
At Royal Botanical Gardens (680 Plains Road West), flowering cherry trees are currently at their best, according to the organization.
The blossoms are an annual attraction at the gardens, and large crowds turned out over the weekend to take in the sweeping displays of pink and white.
Since 2020, the gardens have added 34 cherry trees to their already extensive collection, which can be found in both the Arboretum and the Rock Garden.
Another popular viewing spot is Spencer Smith Park, located along the lakefront in the city’s downtown.
“They are out, and they look great,” said one visitor who was at the park on Saturday (April 26).
Visitors are reminded to treat the trees with care. Do not break off blossoms, shake branches, or climb the trees, as damage can impact future growth.
At the Royal Botanical Gardens, the use of drones is prohibited.
