Health Canada reports that multiple products have been recalled from stores in Ontario this week (July 26 to August 1) due to potential health and safety risks.

Residents are advised to check if they have these products at home and avoid using or consuming them out of caution.

The following products are affected:

Cahill’s brand Original Irish Porter Cheese

Risk: Possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick with symptoms such as vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.

What you should do: Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased. If you think you became sick from consuming a recalled product, call your doctor.

Cheese Taleggio Dop a Latte Crudo Incarto Verde recalled due to Staphylococcus aureus

Risk: Possible Staphylococcus aureus contamination. Staph food poisoning symptoms include nausea, vomiting, and stomach cramps and diarrhea.

What you should do: Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased. If you think you became sick from consuming a recalled product, call your doctor.

Frontera brand Ground Beef Taco Skillet Sauce

Risk: The sauce contains mustard which is not declared on the label.

What you should do: Those with a mustard allergy should check if the product can be returned to the location it was purchased from.

Addo Woodlets Lifting Puzzles

Risk: The small plastic pegs, which are used to lift the puzzle pieces, can detach from the metal screw holding the peg in place, posing a choking hazard.

What you should do: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled toy and return the product to any Toys “R” Us Canada store for a full refund.

Various AeonAir, Danby and De’Longhi Dehumidifiers

Risk: The dehumidifiers can overheat, posing a fire hazard. As of July 14, 2021 the company has received two reports of incidents in Canada that resulted in fire and/or smoke damage to property.

What you should do: Consumers should immediately stop using the dehumidifier, unplug the unit, and contact the manufacturer handling the recall, New Widetech Industries Co. Ltd., for a refund.

Model 520 Firepots by Combi Inc.

Risk: The recalled product does not have the required labelling to address flame jetting hazards, which could contribute to a flame jetting incident and lead to serious injury or death.

What you should do: Consumers should immediately stop using the product and may contact Combi Inc. by telephone at 1-800-363-6443 or by e-mail at [email protected].

Janod Toy Shaving Kit (toy kit for kids)

Risk: The kit bag trim and handle contain Di(2-ethylhexyl) Phthalate (DEHP) that exceeds the allowable limit. Studies suggest that certain phthalates, including DEHP, may cause reproductive and developmental abnormalities in young children when soft vinyl products containing phthalates are sucked or chewed for extended periods.

What you should do: Consumers should immediately take the kit bag away from children and dispose of it. For more information, contact QHouse Kids.

Specified models of Usines Giant Factories Inc. gas water heaters

Risk: The recalled products may not meet the safety standard, posing a carbon monoxide leak hazard.

What you should do: Canadian consumers in possession of one of the recalled products should turn off the water heater and contact Giant to make arrangements for a qualified technician to replace the incorrect flue reducer.

Magnet Game Set assorted-12 pieces

Risk: The magnets do not meet the magnetic force requirements of the Toys Regulations and pose an ingestion hazard. The results of swallowing small powerful magnets can be very serious and life-threatening.

What you should do: Consumers should immediately take the recalled toy magnet set away from children and return to the place of purchase for a full refund.
