Cheap spring trips and tips revealed for Canadian travellers

With March break over and the busy summer travel season still months away, Canadian travellers can find deals this spring.

Global travel app Skyscanner suggests some places where hotel prices are cheaper than average for travellers who want to take a trip this Easter long weekend.

“For many travellers, the hotel sets the tone for the entire trip and offers a complete escape from everyday life,” Skyscanner travel expert, Laura Lindsay, said. “Easter weekends are no different.”

Lindsay suggests travellers book early to get the best deal.

“Acting quickly can mean you score a bargain before demand increases to certain destinations,” she said. “Some destinations will be more popular than others, so if you can book early, you’re more likely not to be disappointed as interest increases.”

Staying flexible on departure days can help save money too.

“Try a combination of different dates to see if there’s a bargain to be had by checking in a few days early or staying in your destination a bit longer,” Lindsay says. “Easter is a great opportunity to flex your annual leave and still find savings.”

In addition to staying flexible on dates, choosing hotels outside of major centres could also save you money.

“Hotels in popular cities will unfailingly attract lots of visitors over the Easter weekend and as a result, they tend to cost more,” she said. “Sometimes you can upgrade yourself to a better hotel for the same price, that’s even just a street away from your desired location.”

Finally, make sure you check out what’s included—a free breakfast or complimentary parking could save you money.
