Charges laid after Hamilton Telus employee assaulted during armed robbery: police
Two men have been charged in relation to an armed robbery at a Telus/Koodo mobile phone store in Hamilton that resulted in injuries to an employee.

Two men have been charged in relation to an armed robbery at a Telus/Koodo mobile phone store in Hamilton that resulted in injuries to an employee.

The incident took place on Mar. 24 when multiple suspects entered the store on Upper James St.

Police say two of the males brandished firearms in front of the sole employee and demanded merchandise and cash.

The employee suffered minor physical injuries after they were struck in the head, according to police.

With the assistance of Hamilton Police, three of the suspects were arrested in the Peel Region and a loaded firearm was recovered.

Two of the arrested suspects are facing charges.

Vashon Ward, 19, from Toronto is charged with:

  • Robbery with a Firearm
  • Disguise with Intent
  • Possession Under $5,000
  • Occupant of Stolen Motor Vehicle

Justin Hicks, 20, from Welland is charged with:

  • Possession Under $5,000
  • Fail to Comply with Probation
  • Occupant of Stolen Motor Vehicle

Police say both suspects remain in custody as they search for the remaining suspects.
