If you’re planning to travel on the GO Train this weekend, you should be aware that there will be additional service on both the Milton and Kitchener lines in order to get more GTA residents to and from Toronto’s Santa Claus Parade.

In a blog post, Metrolinx News editorial content manager, Scott Money, said that GO Transit is offering special GO Train service just for the parade, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, Nov. 20.

It’s Toronto’s first in-person Santa Claus Parade since 2019, as organizers hosted the event virtually in 2020 and 2021 because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and public health restrictions.

According to Money, a special trip will depart the Milton GO station at 10:58 a.m. and arrive at Union Station at 12:00 pm, making all stops along the way. Another additional trip will depart Union at 4:48 pm, ending at the Milton GO station at 5:48 pm.

The Milton line runs through Mississauga, with stops in Lisgar, Meadowvale, Streestville, Erindale and Cooksville.

Those who use the Kitchener line, which makes stops in Georgetown, Brampton and Mississauga’s Malton neighbourhood, will also see additional service.

According to Money, a special trip will depart Georgetown GO at 10:42 am. It will arrive at Union Station at 11:40 am, making all the regular stops along the way. An additional train will leave Union at 5:04 pm, stopping at the Georgetown GO station at 6:05 pm.

People traveling to the parade–or using GO Transit for any other reason–can purchase Weekend Passes for $10 for one-day or $15 for the entire weekend.

Metrolinx says the Weekend Passes are only available online on the GO e-ticket platform.

Children 12 years of age and younger can ride GO Transit for free.
