A celebration for a new off-leash dog park will be taking place soon in Georgetown.

While the dog park opened back in November and isn’t exactly that new, the warmer weather has finally allowed the Town of Halton Hills to host an official opening event.

The opening celebration of the dog park, located at 11494 Trafalgar Rd. in Georgetown, will take place on Saturday, June 4.

“I am very happy to see this facility open for all the other dog lovers in this Town,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette.

“As a dog owner myself, I know how important it is for our four-legged friends to have a place to run and socialize; I am so glad we were able to make this paw-sible.”

The event will feature pet-specific vendors, Paw Patrol Mascots and agility dogs that will take place between noon and 2:00 p.m.

This off-leash park is 9300 m² and features a shelter, pathways, lighting, additional parking, an area for small dogs and an in-ground waste disposal.

The Town of Halton Hills has two other smaller off-leash areas in Prospect Park in Acton and Cedarvale Park in Georgetown.
