Cat rescued from Oakville house fire

A fire has left extensive damage to the main floor of an Oakville home on Tuesday afternoon.

Oakville firefighters responded to a fire that started just before 2 p.m. at a semi-detached home on New Wood Dr., near the area of Sixth Line and Dundas Street.

Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the front door and windows. There was considerable damage on the main floor.

No injuries were reported, though firefighters did rescue a cat from the home.

Cause of the fire is under investigation.
