Stolen vehicles found in Peel and Durham have led police to charge three people including one from Brampton and another from Ajax.

The Toronto Police Service says officers with the Provincial Carjacking Joint Task Force served a warrant on Wednesday (Oct. 18) which led officers to recover two stolen vehicles.

Police say the task force is a response to the rising incidents of violent auto crimes across the GTA, with local police services including Peel Regional Police, Halton Regional Police Service and the Durham Regional Police Service combining resources to cut down on auto thefts.

Three people including a 31-year-old from Brampton were arrested on Thursday and charged with two counts each of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and traffick in property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Police have charged Jagmit Sidhu, 31, of Brampton, Roshvin Crofton, 21, of Ajax, and Dhushanth Jeyendran, 26, of Scarborough. The accused were scheduled to appear in court in Toronto on Thursday.
