Car smashes into 8 vehicles, major Mississauga intersection closed

Peel Police say they have a man in custody after a vehicle was involved in eight different collisions along a major Mississauga street.
As part of their ongoing investigation, the intersection at Burnhamthorpe Rd. and Hurontario St. has been closed with traffic being diverted from around the scene.
The incident began late this morning (April 26) with reports that a car was involved in a crash at Hurontario and the QEW.
Police believe the driver then headed north on Hurontario and was involved in seven more crashes before he got out of the car and fled on foot near Square One. Police cannot confirm at this time if the vehicle was being pursued by a cruiser.
Officers say a man was eventually apprehended.
One person has been taken to hospital with minor injuries as a result of the collisions.
