Thousands of vehicles have been recalled in Canada because of an issue that could result in the speedometer not being visible, officials say.
“On certain vehicles, a problem with the instrument cluster (virtual cockpit) could cause it to shut down,” Transport Canada said in a recall notice.
“If this happens, you may not be able to see certain information about the vehicle, including the speedometer, warnings, and tell-tales. Warnings, tell-tales and gauges that don’t display could increase the risk of a crash.”
A number of 2021 Audi models are affected, including:
- A6
- A7
- A8
- Q7
- Q8
- RS 6
- RS 7
- RS Q8
- S6
- S7
- S8
- SQ7
- SQ8
There are 3,905 vehicles in Canada affected by the recall.
Transport Canada said Audi will notify owners by mail and advise them to take their vehicle to a dealership to have the instrument cluster software updated.
