Car goes off road, crashing into tree and killing Hamilton man

A 46-year-old driver from Hamilton died Wednesday when his car veered off course and crashed into a tree.

Hamilton police said  the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

They said the driver of a Mercedes sedan was travelling northbound on Southcote Road near Book Road at about 8:15 p.m. on July 19 when it left the road and struck a tree. The man had no passengers.

The Hamilton Police Service Collision Reconstruction Unit was dispatched to examine the scene. A stretch of Southcote Road was closed for several hours for the investigation.
