The City of Brampton has a full day of mostly virtual Canada Day celebrations planned for Thursday, July 1.

The highlight of the day, of course, will be the Tim Hortons Fireworks Show at the CAA Centre. Streamed virtually on the city’s website, the show will also allow a limited number of people, following strict COVID-19 safety protocols, to attend in-person.

The fireworks will follow a four-hour virtual concert headlined by four-time Juno Award winning rock group The Sheepdogs on the Alectra Digital Stage. The concert will stream from 6 to 10 p.m.

Hosted by Daniel Pillai, the National Anthem will be sung by America’s Got Talent finalist Roberta Battaglia. Next up will be indigenous folk artists Twin Flames. Juno Award winner iskwē and Tom Wilson will team up in a special pairing.

The day will be jam-packed full of online activities and entertainment beginning at 9 a.m. including events like a live coding workshop, puzzles, scavenger hunt, an interactive dance party and a virtual science show. Events get underway at 8 a.m.

And if you’re the kind of person who goes all-out decorating your home, the city is giving out prizes for the best entries from each ward pairing. The deadline to submit your entry is June 27 at 4 p.m. here.
