‘Canada’s Got Talent’ the opening act for new theatre at Niagara Falls casino

With Fallsview Casino Resort’s brand new 5,000-seat OLG Stage ready to open in a month, they had to christen the stage with a big name.
Not surprisingly, they found one of the biggest in the country. The TV reality show “Canada’s Got Talent” will be the opening act as the new theatre gets set to welcome the public inside.
Last year, judges Howie Mandel, Trish Stratus, Kardinal Offishall and Lilly Singh, as well as host Lindsay Ell, set up shop in the 1,500-seat Avalon Theatre inside the Niagara Falls casino.
The auditions were often interrupted as COVID-19 restrictions continually changed as they were the show was taping. Filming started in November 2021 and then was halted. It resumed in January of this year with severely decreased crowd size due to more stringent provincial guidelines.
However, when it came to the finale in May, the smaller venue was jam-packed to watch Quebec singer Jeanick Fournier win the $150,000 prize.
But the audience was in for a real treat as Simon Cowell, the creator of the “Got Talent” shows in the U.S. and Great Britain, showed up for the last episode as a judge.

While in town, judge Mandel was presented with the Key to the City of Niagara Falls by Mayor Jim Diodati.
Dates are already set for the initial auditions between October 19 and 23 with two sets of auditions a day – at 2 pm and 7 pm.
