mississauga woman wins two million in lottery.

Safe to say Mississauga’s Katheleen Piche enjoyed the most memorable camping trip of her life — or close to it — this past summer.

The mother of two and grandmother of four was picking up some camping supplies at a store in Parry Sound, on Georgian Bay, when she also decided to buy an Ontario 49 lottery ticket for the Aug. 16 draw, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) officials said.

The ticket turned out to be a top-prize winner of $2 million.

“When I checked my ticket and realized I’d won big, I couldn’t believe it,” Piche, who’s retired, said while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect her windfall. “I was shocked and started dancing with joy. In fact, I’m still in shock.”

The Mississauga woman, who says she’s a longtime lottery player with OLG, plans to put her winnings toward purchasing a home and enjoying some well-deserved travel, lottery officials said in a news release on Thursday.

“Portugal and Italy are definitely on my bucket list,” Piche said.

The winning ticket was purchased at Shell, on Bowes Street in Parry Sound.
