Police in Caledon are asking drivers to stay clear of Kennedy Road after a large vehicle took down a hydro pole on Monday (Feb.14).

Shortly before 12:00 p.m., the Caledon OPP said there had been a crash on Kennedy Road between Highway 9 and Highpoint Side Road.

A photo posted to the Central Region OPP Twitter account showed a large vehicle, possibly a garbage truck, tipped over on its side with a hydro pole resting against the vehicle.

The pole appeared to have been knocked and power lines were strewn across the road.

No one was injured in the crash, and a police spokesperson said there was only one vehicle involved.

There have been no power outages reported, and police said the road will be closed for several hours while crews work to clear the scene.

“Kennedy between Hwy 9 and Highpoint will be closed in both directions for a number of hours while crews are repairing the hydro lines,” police said. “Please avoid the area.”
