Caledon man wins $100,000 jackpot after playing for 4 decades

A Caledon man has finally won big after playing the lottery for four decades.
OLG congratulated Bolton resident Manuel Melo for winning the top prize in the Instant $100,000 Money Match #2358.
“I’ve won a few free tickets and smaller prizes before, but this is a different story,” said the 67-year-old retiree, who tends to play Lotto Max and Lotto 6/49 when the jackpots are large.
Melo says he went to a different store than usual one day, and when he checked his ticket, he said it was the biggest win the cashier had ever seen.
He says his wife initially didn’t believe that he’d won, and when he shared the news with the rest of his family, they were overjoyed.
As for his plans with the money, he intends to manage his finances, save, and put some away for his grandchildren.

The winning ticket was purchased at George’s Convenience on Highway 50 in Bolton.
