The Town of Caledon is looking for a few new recruits to join the town’s ranks as volunteer firefighters.

Caledon Fire and Emergency Services is launching a recruitment drive to hire more volunteer firefighters to respond to all manner of emergency and non-emergency incidents including fires, medical emergencies and vehicle collisions.

Interested applicants must be at least 18-years-old, have a valid G driver’s licence, and live within 8 kilometres of a Caledon Fire Station.

“Volunteer firefighters are everyday residents of the Town of Caledon with full time careers and professions who offer to help their community,” said Caledon Fire Chief Dave Forfar.

“These paid on-call positions are compensated financially for their time when responding to calls, and in return they receive valuable medical training, fire ground training, emergency management experience and life skills.”

Residents will also be required to attend one of the following upcoming information sessions to be eligible to apply:

  • Oct. 4 at 7:00 p.m. at Southfields Community Centre – 225 Dougall Avenue.
  • Oct. 6 at 10:00 a.m. at the Albion Bolton Community Centre – 150 Queen Street South.
  • Oct. 12 at 7:00 p.m. at Station 303 – 6085 Old Church Road.
