Caledon driver killed in head-on crash

A young man from Caledon is dead and after a head-on crash on Tuesday night.
Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Caledon were called to a stretch of Hwy 9 just west of Mountainview Rd. for reports of a head-on collision around 10:50 p.m.
Police say a vehicle heading eastbound and another going west crashed into each other, and one of the vehicles caught fire.
Twenty-four-year-old Mathyharan Arumugam from Caledon was pronounced dead on scene, according to the OPP.
The occupants of the second vehicle were transported to hospital in critical condition. Details about the other victims were not disclosed by police and requests for comment were not immediately returned.
Highway 9 was closed for several hours while police and a collision reconstruction team investigated the crash.
Police say its still unknown what led to the head-on crash.
