Bystanders pulled a driver from a burning vehicle following a crash in Ontario on Thursday, officials say.
Ottawa firefighters said that police requested they respond to the area of Riverside and Old Riverside drives at 6:41 p.m. “for a vehicle that was flipped over and burst into flames with the driver still trapped inside.”
Firefighters quickly arrived and saw the vehicle on its roof with the engine compartment on fire.
The driver, however, had been pulled out by two bystanders, firefighters said.

“Firefighters initiated a fast attack and advanced a hose line towards the vehicle,” officials said.
“A secondary crew established a medical sector and assessed and treated the driver for their injuries.”
The driver said that they were the only person inside, which was confirmed by a search of the vehicle.
Firefighters had to use “specialized tools” to remove the passenger doors to gain access and put out a fire in the dashboard area, officials said.
The fire was deemed under control at 6:50 p.m.
