Lane closures near QEW in Mississauga.

A section of a busy road near the QEW in Mississauga will partially close to traffic for 10 nights/overnights as major repair work continues on the highway bridge over the Credit River.

According to officials with the QEW/Credit River Improvement Project overseeing the major bridge rehabilitation work, Mississauga Road from South Sheridan Way to Mississauga Crescent will be reduced to one lane from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night between April 2 and 12.

Officials say two-way traffic will be maintained at all times under flagging conditions and that access to and from Mississauga Crescent will be maintained at all times as well.

Meanwhile, drivers are reminded four lanes and one ramp on a busy part of the QEW in the city will shut down at various times in the next couple of days.

A pair of eastbound lanes and two westbound lanes between Erin Mills Parkway and Hurontario Street will close to traffic nightly through March 28.

One of the eastbound lanes will shut down from 11 p.m. nightly until 5 a.m. the next morning while the second lane will close between midnight and 5 a.m., according to project leaders. One westbound lane will close from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. while the second will shut down from midnight to 5 a.m.

Also, the South Sheridan Way on-ramp to the eastbound QEW will fully close on March 27 between midnight and 5 a.m. for ongoing work.

Temporary nighttime/overnight closures and other restrictions have been commonplace since 2022 both on the QEW and nearby roads due to the massive bridge project that began nearly three years ago.

More traffic disruptions are anticipated as work continues in the coming weeks and months. Night and weekend work along the 2.6-km stretch of the QEW from Hurontario Street to Mississauga Road, and beyond, is expected to impact traffic for the duration of the project.
