Lane closed Burlington construction

A busy road beside the QEW in Mississauga will be reduced to one lane of daytime traffic over the next two weekends as crews continue work on the highway bridge over the Credit River.

Officials with the QEW/Credit River Improvement Project overseeing the major bridge rehabilitation work say Premium Way, between Stavebank Rd. and Lynchmere Ave., will be reduced to one open lane on April 22-23 and the following weekend, April 29-30, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Project leaders say the closure is to allow for various work to be done including culvert work near the highway.

Access to Dickson Rd. and Lynchmere Ave. will be maintained at all times.

Also, officials remind drivers that four lanes on a busy stretch of the QEW will be shut down each night/overnight for the next three weeks or so.

Two eastbound and two westbound lanes between Erin Mills Pkwy. and Hurontario St. will be closed at various times in the late evening and overnight hours each night until May 6.

Also, the QEW eastbound off-ramp to South Sheridan Way will be closed this Wednesday (April 19) from midnight to 5 a.m.

Westbound lane closures will take place from as early as 11 p.m. to as late the following morning as 7 a.m., depending on night of the week.

Eastbound closures will take place from as early as 10 p.m. to as late as 7 a.m. the following morning, again depending on night of the week.

Temporary nighttime/overnight closures have been commonplace since last fall both on the QEW and nearby roads due to the massive project that began well over a year ago.

More traffic disruptions are anticipated as work proceeds in the coming months. Night and weekend work along the 2.6-km stretch of the QEW from Hurontario St. to Mississauga Rd. is expected to impact traffic for the duration of the project.
