A busy QEW off-ramp in Mississauga will be closed most of the overnight hours starting late Wednesday night (Aug. 31) and continuing into Thursday as crews continue work on rehabilitation of the highway bridge over the Credit River.

Officials with the QEW/Credit River Improvement Project, who are overseeing the massive undertaking, say the QEW westbound off-ramp to Mississauga Rd. will be closed to traffic between midnight and 5 a.m. late Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Project leaders say traffic disruptions are anticipated while nighttime construction takes place on the bridge.

Closure date may change due to weather.

Notices of temporary lane and ramp closures on the QEW in Mississauga have been coming fast and furious in recent weeks.

QEW/Credit River Improvement Project officials have been putting out closure notices almost every other day.

The following lane closures, announced last Friday, are in effect, weather permitting, each night/overnight until Sept. 1:

  • two QEW eastbound lanes from Erin Mills Pkwy. to the Credit River bridge–(Aug. 28 to Sept. 1) first lane from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., second lane from midnight to 5 a.m.
  • two QEW westbound lanes from east of the bridge to Erin Mills Pkwy.–(Aug. 30 and Sept. 1 only) first lane from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., second lane from midnight to 5 a.m.

As work continues on the Credit River bridge project, drivers and area residents can expect ongoing traffic disruptions to impact part of the QEW and other areas in the vicinity of Mississauga Rd. and the highway in the coming weeks and months.

Night and weekend work along the 2.6-km stretch of the QEW from Hurontario St. to Mississauga Rd. is expected to impact traffic for the duration of construction.
