QEW lanes in Mississauga closed nightly

Two lanes of the QEW and an off-ramp in Mississauga will close to traffic for three consecutive nights/overnights starting next Friday (June 16) as crews continue work on the highway bridge over the Credit River.

Officials with the QEW/Credit River Improvement Project overseeing the major bridge rehabilitation work say two eastbound lanes between Erin Mills Pkwy. and the Credit River Bridge will shut down the nights of June 16, 17 and 18 and reopen the following mornings.

The closures will be in effect:

  • Friday, June 16: 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. Saturday morning (lane one), 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. (lane two)
  • Saturday, June 17: 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. (lane one), 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. (lane two)
  • Sunday, June 18: 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday morning (both lanes)

Additionally, the QEW eastbound off-ramp to South Sheridan Way will fully close to traffic the nights/overnights of June 16, 17 and 18.

That closure will be in effect from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. the first two nights and from 11 p.m. on the Sunday night until 5 a.m. the following morning.

Meanwhile, nightly lane and periodic ramp closures on the QEW remain in effect through June 17.

Additionally, Premium Way, between Stavebank Rd. and Lynchmere Ave., will be down to one lane on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. through June 30, project leaders say.

Officials say two-way traffic will be maintained at all times via flagging operations and all streets and roads will be accessible.

Temporary nighttime/overnight closures have been commonplace since last year both on the QEW and nearby roads due to the massive project that began nearly two years ago.

More traffic disruptions are anticipated as work proceeds in the coming months. Night and weekend work along the 2.6-km stretch of the QEW from Hurontario St. to Mississauga Rd., and beyond to Erin Mills Pkwy., is expected to impact traffic for the duration of the project.
