An Oshawa man faces several drug charges after a busted front headlight led to a police search of his car.

The man was driving through Barrie shortly before 11:30 p.m. on May 17. As he pulled into a commercial plaza on Cundles Rd. and Bayfield St., a Sergeant with the Barrie Police Service noticed one of his front headlights was out.

When the Sergeant approached the car he noticed a “strong odour” of cannabis. The officer launched a drug investigation and searched the car. Inside he found cannabis, cocaine, and fentanyl and arrested the driver, a 25-year-old Oshawa man.

The driver was searched again when he arrived at the police station. Police learned he had hidden more prescription drugs on his person. He was charged with a “slew” of drug possession and trafficking charges, obstructing a peace officer and driving without proper headlights.

He was held in custody until his bail hearing and appeared in court on May 18.
