A bursary has been established to honour the legacy of a late Burlington musician.

The Mike Taylor Music Education Bursary will see $1,000 awarded each year to a promising young individual in the community to help them pursue a career in music.

Taylor, 51, died suddenly in December of 2018. Also known as “Beard Guy,” he was a member of Burlington band Walk Off The Earth.

The bursary is being established by the Sound of Music Festival and the entertainment law firm of Taylor Oballa Murrary Leyland with the co-operation of the band.

The annual award will begin with a call for submissions and the recipient will be chosen by a panel consisting of the award creators.
