After about a month’s delay due to problems securing insurance, Burlington’s LaSalle Park Community Marina is reopening this week.

The opening of the marina also means the Burlington Sailing and Boating Club and the Able Sail program will be able to operate from the marina.

“We are very happy the LPMA was able to secure insurance and can return to another successful season of boating,” said Chris Glenn, the City of Burlington’s director of Recreation, Community and Culture.

“We have a long history of working together and we’re looking forward to continuing our relationship and offering excellent marina services through the LPMA.”

The LaSalle Park Marina Association (LPMA) and the Burlington Sailing and Boating Club are lifting the stored boats into the water beginning today. The boat launch will be open for public use on June 20.

The opening was delayed due to insurance renewal issues. However, LPMA was able to secure insurance and is able to reopen.

Through an agreement with the City, the marina has been operated by the LPMA for 41 years. The City owns the wave break and the marina.

The marina has 219 docking spaces and is protected by a floating wave break that was installed in 2020.

The Burlington Sailing and Boating Club and the Able Sail program offer sailing programs at the marina. In addition, the City has a public boat launch that is protected by the floating wave break.
