Burlington trustee Vincent Iantomasi has been barred from taking part in any Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB) meetings for the rest of the term.

In a five-to-three vote in a special meeting held on Tuesday (July 26), the HCDSB board sanctioned Iantomasi citing a breach of the trustee code of conduct.

The Burlington trustee will not be able to attend and take part in any of the HCDSB’s meeting until Nov. 15.

As for exactly what Iantomasi did to earn being barred, the board decided earlier a report outlining the incidents would remain in camera.

The Halton board is not required to make the report public as per I-26 Trustee Code of Conduct.

Milton trustee Patrick Murphy voted to support the sanction along with trustees Janet O’Hearn-Czarnota, Nancy Guzzo, Brenda Agnew and Marvin Duarte.

Trustees Peter DeRosa, Tim O’Brien and Helena Karabela did not support it.

“This is not one incident,” said Murphy. “This is 25 incidences that were recorded just this year.”

Iantomasi was not present at the meeting.
