Burlington teen band and Hamilton’s Mohawk College instructor faces child pornography charges

A teacher at Mohawk College who is also an instructor with the Burlington Teen Tour Band is facing child pornography charges.

Halton Regional Police say they have arrested Matthew Wicks, 29, of Burlington and charged him with two counts of possession of child pornography and one count of accessing child pornography.

The arrest comes as a result of an investigation by the department’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit into a person sharing child sexual abuse material online.

Wicks has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

According to police, the person charged had been a partial faculty member at Mohawk College and is also the head percussion instructor for the Burlington Teen Tour Band.
