Burlington teacher charged in historical sexual assault case

A Burlington man and former Halton District School Board (HDSB) teacher has been arrested in connection with an alleged sexual assault that occurred in the early 1980s.

According to the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS), the incident occurred at a Burlington elementary school in 1982.

Police say that in July 2021, a former female student at John T. Tuck Elementary School in Burlington contacted officers to report that she was sexually assaulted by a teacher when she was a student at the school.

Police say that Michael O’Grady, 72, has been charged with indecent assault. The accused was released on an undertaking.

According to police, the accused taught at multiple HDSB schools and officers believe there may be more victims.
