Five students at a Burlington elementary school have been infected with COVID-19.

The students, from Alton Village Public School at 3290 Steeplechase Dr. in the city’s north end, have had their cases confirmed today (September 17).

The school remains open and no classrooms have been closed.

“This is crazy,” said a parent who has a child attending the school. “A few days ago things seemed to be under control. Now this. A lot of us (parents) have been talking and we might pull our kids.”

The school has a population of 1,000 students. No staff members are being recorded as having the virus.
