Streets will reopen as soon as possible following the end of the race.

The City of Burlington reminds residents that vehicles parked illegally in the area will be tagged or towed to allow emergency access.

The Moon in June road race has taken place in Burlington since 1992. The fast, flat loop course will include highlights of the city’s waterfront as well as the downtown core.

Gordon Schottlander has been a resident of Burlington since 1950. He said he has been running this race since he was 80 years old.

“Now I am 93 and still doing it,” Schottlander said. “Why? Because the charity of choice for this event is Radius Child and Youth Services. I do not know of another charity that touches my heart more. Please come out and support these kids. I will have four generations there….anyone with five?”

Radius Child and Youth Services has a location in Oakville at 60 Lakeshore Road West. They provide assessment and treatment to children, youth and families affected by abuse, neglect and domestic violence.

All proceeds from the Moon in June road race will go towards Radius Child and Youth Services.

“We are one of the longest standing, truly charitable running events in Halton,” Moon in June race organizers said on their website. “Over our tenure we have donated over one million dollars to local charities. Our commitment, as a fully charitable event is to help Radius in their time of need and assist with their vastly increased need for services.”
