Burlington needs crossing guards

Burlington needs more crossing guards to fill vacant positions in the upcoming months.

As of today, 10 positions need to be filled at various locations to help young people safely cross the road on their way to and from school.

Hours vary depending on the location and the pay is $15.50 per hour and will rise to $16.55 per hour on October 1 of this year.

Crossing guards need to work in person at the various locations across Burlington and must be able to show up to the job during all weather conditions.

The position works two hours a day (one in the morning and one in the afternoon) from September to June. Uniform and on-the-job training is provided.

“No nights, no weekends, no holidays required,” reads a statement on the City of Burlington website about the open positions. “School crossing guards work in our community at designated locations to assist Burlington’s school children in getting safely to and from school. Spare school crossing guards may be required to have access to their own transportation as they may be required to work at various locations around Burlington. Spare crossing guards cover sickness, vacations, and vacant locations.
