Burlington MP appointed minister for third time in Trudeau’s new cabinet

Burlington MP Karina Gould has been appointed Canada’s Minister of Families, Children and Social Development in Justin Trudeau’s new cabinet announced today (Oct. 26).

This is the third Cabinet post for Gould, 34, since she was first elected to Parliament in 2015.

In 2017, she became the youngest woman to serve as a Cabinet minister in Canadian history when she was appointed as the Minister of Democratic Institutions.

After retaining her seat for the first time in 2019, the MM Robinson High School grad was named Minister of International Development.

The agencies now under Gould’s purview include Service Canada, Canada Mortgage and House Corp, Canada Pension Plan appeals board and review tribunals.
