Burlington Mayor Marianne Meed Ward recently announced that the mayor’s office will be launching a monthly Women’s Speaker Series after the success of her virtual Lunch and Learn that was hosted for International Women’s Day.

During her Lunch and Learn back in March, Meed Ward spoke with Leena Sharma Seth of Mending the Chasm and Leigh-Ann Allaire Perrault of Hue La La, where the three women answered questions and shared their experiences in an interactive webinar.

“This year, I did something virtual and had some amazing, inspiring women on my show to talk about living through the pandemic because it has hit women harder than other sectors with low-paying jobs and the burden of childcare,” Meed Ward told inhalton.com‘s Khaled Iwamura.

“People were so inspired with our one-hour service virtual chat,” she said, explaining that it prompted someone to ask whether she could do these sessions more than once per year.

Meed Ward decided to go ahead with the request and confirmed that the new series will take place on a monthly basis.
