A Burlington man faces one count of uttering threats, following an investigation at Niagara College on Thursday.

The Niagara Regional Police Service says that on Thursday, detectives from its Niagara Falls district received information involving a student at the college’s Niagara-on-the-Lake campus making death threats via text messages.

Investigation revealed the suspect threatened another student and made comments surrounding a firearm being brought to the school campus. Police say there was no imminent threat to any students, the campus itself or Niagara College’s employees.

Kyle Marsden, 22, has been arrested and charged with one count of uttering threats, contrary to section 264.1(2) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

Marsden was held for a bail hearing on Friday, to be held via video link in a St. Catharines court.

Anyone with information that might be helpful to the ongoing NRPS investigation is asked to contact detectives at 905-688-4111, ext. 1022200.
