Burlington man charged in Brantford armed home invasion

A Burlington man is among five people charged following an armed home invasion in Brantford.

According to Brantford Police, the incident took place on March 23 at around 1:45 a.m. when reports came in that a home was broken into and that a robbery was taking place.

Police say that four men armed with guns entered the home where they assaulted, robbed and forcibly held two male victims. They then fled the scene in a vehicle driven by a female suspect.

One of the victims was treated for minor physical injuries.

Officers quickly located the suspect vehicle nearby and conducted a traffic stop. All five in the vehicle were arrested without incident and amounts of cocaine, two air soft replica rifles and Canadian currency were recovered.

Additionally, information received indicated that four of the accused were in violation of a number of judicial release orders including multiple firearms prohibition orders.
Matthew Rose, 32, from Burlington, is charged with:
  • Breaking and entering a dwelling house
  • Two counts of forcible confinement
  • Robbery with a firearm
  • Two counts of assault
  • Two counts of intimidation using violence
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a firearm or weapon contrary to a prohibition order

Three Toronto men and a woman also face charges.

All of those charged were held for bail.
