Joseph Brant Hospital is likely to reopen its COVID-19 vaccination clinic in light of the rapid spread of the Omicron variant.

At yesterday’s Regional Council meeting, staff from Halton Public Health said they’re gearing up for the anticipated wave of Omicon and are rapidly expanding capacity to give both booster shots and initial vaccines to children aged 5-11.

Oakville-Trafalgar Hospital has already confirmed they’re reopening their clinic and Jo Brant should follow soon.

“We can confirm that Joseph Brant Hospital is in discussions with Halton Region and we are exploring options to re-open a vaccination clinic at our site,” said Eric Vandewall, president and CEO.

“At this time, we cannot confirm timelines, but we are working on these plans in the coming days. In the meantime, we strongly urge all eligible individuals to get vaccinated at local clinics, including those who are able to receive their third dose COVID-19 booster.

“We will continue to work closely with regional and provincial health partners to monitor the evolving situation and we are prepared to support the vaccination needs of the community as much as possible.”
