Burlington couple admit guilt in $265K Taylor Swift ticket scam

A Burlington woman and her partner have pleaded guilty to a more than $260,000 fake ticket scam that preyed on victims hoping to see pop superstar Taylor Swift, according to reports.

Denise Tisor and her common-law partner David Blake both entered guilty pleas in a Milton courthouse on Wednesday after being charged with defrauding the public in a fake concert ticket scam last year.

The Halton Regional Police Service said the scam occurred when buyers were looking for tickets to Swift’s sold-out November 2024 shows in Toronto
Victims purchased tickets through a third-party vendor who utilized the Facebook profile name of “Denise Blackhawk.”

But the tickets were never delivered after they were paid for, and police initially said there were $140,000 in losses. There were more than 100 victims and fans lost more than $260,000, according to reports.

Tisor reportedly claimed she had a contact at the Rogers Centre who could get their hands on seats and accepted payments by e-transfer. Victims were told they would receive their tickets between 48 and 72 hours before the concert was set to begin, but none were delivered.

A raid on a Burlington home in March 2025 uncovered computers, cellphones and documents connected to the case, Halton police said.

Court documents show there was no third party involved and that both Blake and Tisor were aware that they were defrauding their victims, according to CTV news, and at least $139,144 of the funds were used to place multiple online gambling bets on various platforms.

Police in Toronto previously charged the same people after 28 victims came forward who said they sent money but never received tickets. Ahead of Swif’s performances, Toronto police said fraudsters were likely playing into the scarcity of tickets.
