The Burlington Cougars continued their winning ways early this Ontario Junior Hockey League season last night at Central Arena.

A 5-3 win over the visiting Pickering Panthers gave the Cougars their third straight win and they still haven’t lost in regulation.

Burlington trailed 2-1 after the first period, but three straight goals in the second gave them a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

Jack Richard had a pair of goals for the Cougars and singles went to Josh Belgrave, Matthew Zebedee and Matt Franzoni. Zach Dietz earned the victory in net, stopping 32 of 35 shots.

The Cougars now have three wins and an overtime loss on the season and sit in first place in the OJHL West division.

They get a week off before hosting Markham Royals on Friday, Oct. 15, at Central Arena at 7:30 p.m.
