A pair of Burlington burglars eluded a police dragnet and made off with a load of copper wire on Saturday night (Feb. 25).

According to reports, two men broke into an electrical distribution yard on South Service Rd. and Walkers Line by cutting through a chained gate.

Once inside, however, the culprits triggered an alarm which brought Halton Regional Police to the crime scene.

When officers arrived they saw the suspects loading what they believe to be copper wire into a truck. As the officers moved in to make an arrest the vehicle sped off, refusing orders to stop.

The officers then alerted other cruisers and patrol cars in the area to be on the lookout for the fleeing truck but despite the search, the suspects managed to get away.

The only description of the wanted pair is that they were dressed in black and were driving a blue truck.

Police are continuing their investigation and ask anyone with information to contact them at 905-825-4747 or through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIPS or www.haltoncrimestoppers.ca.
