Burlington has approved the construction of 24 townhouse units in the south end of the city near the QEW.

To be located at 2294 and 2300 Queensway Dr. the housing will consist of 16 standard units and eight back-to-back (which are vertically or horizontally stacked) unit.

A favourable report to councillors indicated the project will increase housing options in a location that has easy access to transit and other services such as parks and shopping. As well, the development will provide an appropriate amount of green space.

Mayor Marianne Meed Ward said she supports the project because it provides additional housing in an area where more housing is needed. She also pointed out it provides intensification in an appropriate area where other townhouses already exist.

“This is a good development and where we want to see a project — on the edge of established neighbourhoods,” she said.
