A burglar tried but came away empty-handed after trying to break into several units at a Burlington apartment building.

According to police, a resident in one of the units heard a noise that sounded like someone trying to bust through their front door around 1 p.m. last Thursday.

When the resident went to investigate the suspect ran off down the hall.

A follow-up investigation showed that attempts were made to break into several other units in the building. The culprit was unsuccessful in all of his efforts.

Reports say a crowbar or another prying device was used to try to get into the units.

Police are continuing their investigation but no suspect information has been released.
