The Peace Bridge between Fort Erie and Buffalo has been shut down after a murder on the American side today.

Niagara area NFL football fans looking to drive to tonight’s (Oct. 26) tilt between the Buffalo Bills and visiting Tampa Bay are being told to stay away from the Peace Bridge between Fort Erie and Buffalo.

A shooting there this morning at 11:20 a.m. that saw one man killed and two injured has resulted in the bridge being shut down for the day.

Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz says any Niagara fans who are driving to tonight’s Bills game cannot use the Peace Bridge and is suggesting they use the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls or the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge in Niagara-on-the-Lake, instead.

Due to the shutdown of the Peace Bridge, drivers should expect significant delays at the two open border bridges.

The murder took place on Highway 190 South at Exit 9, which happens to be the Peace Bridge exit.
