A vaccine mandate is being implemented by William Osler Health System effective Nov. 7, including at Brampton Civic Hospital.

According to spokesperson Jim Schembri, Osler’s top priority is the health and safety of patients, staff, physicians, volunteers, and the community.

“Osler encourages the importance of vaccines to everyone’s health and to our overall health system recovery from the pandemic,” said Schembri in a news release.

According to the release, Osler will be following the Chief Medical Officer of Health’s directive to hospitals and other health care organizations last week and implementing an updated COVID-19 Vaccination Policy.

“It will be mandatory for all Osler staff, physicians, volunteers, students, medical learners, contractors and service providers who attend Osler facilities to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19,” said the release.

There was no indication of any exceptions for disabilities under the Ontario Human Rights code, nor is an option for negative COVID-19 to be presented as an alternative.
