Guests are invited to celebrate Eid in Brampton this year with a full lineup of games, giveaways and performances.

Also known as the Festival of Breaking the Fast, Eid is one of the most important festivals celebrated by Muslims and marks the end of fasting for the holy month of Ramadan.

The City of Brampton is getting ready for its annual Eid ul-Fitr celebrations happening next month at Chinguacousy Park, which also helps support local charities.

“Enjoy free activities for the whole family including henna and face painting, live entertainment, giveaways and more,” the city says. “Halal food trucks will be on-site for attendees to purchase delicious cuisine.”

Residents are also encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item or unwrapped toy in support of local charitable organizations.

“Eid is a time where the Muslim community celebrates the end of Ramadan and comes together to recognize blessings and give back to those less fortunate,” Mayor Patrick Brown said in a statement. “I want to thank the Muslim community for their generosity within our city and encourage all residents to come out and experience this joyous event.”
